Some people might be wondering how I got started on this quest to find out how it is I can live a life that is full of energy, vitality, happiness and true health. So I want to explain where I started, what lead me to the answers and knowledge I have and why I have this hunger to keep learning and understand more. Today human beings are fatter and unhealthier than ever before and I wanted to know, WHY?
It all started when one of my dear friends suggested I attend a Don Tolman seminar.
This was the first health seminar I had ever been to in my life and actually didn’t really know anything about it but knew my friend believed in his message and what he had to say, so I went.
In that seminar my eyes were opened. I was shocked, angry and baffled at how almost everything we had been told about our “health care” system could be so wrong. He uncovered lies, spoke about the 7 key principles of true health and encouraged me to have a good hard think about pharmaceutical drugs we consume. He also discussed articles and evidence based studies all published by the medical associations themselves that are hidden or suppressed from the public. What he said that day made a lot of sense and resonated with me deeply.
That was the start of what you could call a snowball effect and when I left that seminar I went home with this fiery passion inside of me to find out the truth about many other things we have been lied to about for decades.
Which lead me to my first ever health book.
Sweet Poison by David Gillespie is a book about sugar, the damage it is doing, how the body cannot recognise it as food which bypasses our appetite regulators that tell us we are full and is the leading cause of chronic diseases and cancer. This book was another eye opener and I soon realised refined sugar is in almost everything we consume! Everything processed that is but you will not find it in produce such as whole foods, nuts, organic grass fed meats or super foods.
Which led me to my next educational lesson.
I watched a documentary called Food Matters. That along with the other newly gained knowledge I had learnt in the previous weeks changed the way I saw food and I immediately cut junk food out for good. It was then that I really started to truly nourish and restore my body using the power of whole foods and it felt amazing.
I love the saying, “the more you know, the more you realise you don’t know” and that has never been more true for me.
Since watching Food Matters I have watched, Doctored, The Beautiful Truth, Vaccination: The Hidden Truth, Thrive and Dying To Have Known. The health books I have read after Sweet Poison are Whole Food Medicines by Don Tolman, Coconut Cracked Open by Christine Schang, The Body Book by Cameron Diaz, Make Peace With Your Plate by Jess Ainscough and I am currently reading The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz.
I am always reading health articles online and watching YouTube videos of health seminars, in particular videos about The Gerson Therapy.
In Make Peace With Your Plate Jess Ainscough says “once you learn something you can’t unlearn it and you certainly can’t ignore it”.
After doing all of this self-education (which is something I strongly believe in), with overwhelming evidence, it’s impossible not to let this information change your life.
That’s exactly what it has done to mine. I have gained so much knowledge in how to better care for my body, I understand the connection between the foods I eat and how I feel, I do not take pharmaceutical drugs for pain relief or when I am occasionally sick, I have put this knowledge to practice and feel more alive, energised, happy and healthy then ever before.
Every day is an ongoing learning process for me but I hope my blog can help you get started on your journey to reach the same exciting stage I am at today and truly feel like you are living life to the fullest, in a healthy, happy body!
